Iranian actress Mehraveh Sharifinia has won an award at the 13th edition of the Cyprus International Film Festival (CYIFF).
The Iranian actress received the CYIFF Leading Actress Award for her role in 'Wander about Me' directed by Ghazaleh Soltani.
The movie narrates the story of a woman who tries to reach her goals in Tehran as she is pushing 30.
Sharifinia, Behnaz Jafari, Sousan Maqsoudlou, Nasrin Nakisa and Negar Fathi have starred in the movie.
Born in 1981, Mehraveh is the daughter of two well-known Iranian actors Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia and Azita Hajian.
She made her film debut at the age of eight in Mohammad-Reza Honarmand’s 'Doll Thief'.
Mehraveh holds a BA in Music from Tehran University, Faculty of Fine Arts.
In 2007, the actress had the opportunity to act alongside her mother in 'Hourglass'. She later became involved in the production of 'A Flower for Deborah' as the second assistant director.
She has so far appeared in movies such as 'Masoumeh', 'A Girl Named Tondar', 'Look at Me', 'Nightmare', 'Deportee 2', 'A Simple Romance', 'A Line of Truth', 'The Tales', and 'Story of My Father's Love'.
She has also acted in series such as 'Imam Ali (AS)', 'Day of Regret', 'The Chef', 'Heart of Ice', 'Goodbye Child', and 'Kimiya'.
Sharifinia has won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role from Iran's Film Critics & Writers Association for 'There’s Nothing Going on Behind the Door' in 2010 and award for Best Actress in TV series for 'Goodbye Child’ from Image World Celebration in 2014.
The star of 'Wander about Me' has already been chosen as best actress for the same flick at the 8th Bridges International Film Festival in Greece.
The CYIFF is an annual film festival held in Cyprus. The festival takes place in Nicosia and Pafos.
The International Film Festival of Cyprus operates since 2006 as an independent non-profit organization.
The 13th edition of the Cyprus event was held on June 23-July 1, 2018.
